When my neck hurts and the nerves in my hand get squished and tingle, this is what I do and what I tell my favorite clients.
When the folks originally built the internet, they wanted an easier freer way for scientists to share information. We got lots of refuse, but we did get some amazing sharing amongst healers and other scientists. When you have a health question, you can Google.
My friend, Dr. Michael Woo, suggested the way to get safe, reliable information instead of risky junk is to ask Google to only look at sites that have the .edu suffix. I have found that to be useful.
What I do these days, mostly, is head to YouTube.com. You’ll find a vast resource of my colleagues best wisdom laid out for you. They don’t mind repeating what they just demonstrated, or like me you can email the link to a friend, or client, and have my colleague explain and demonstrate the healing method to them directly.
Tip: Type in the word Feldenkrais or Physical Therapist/therapy or Yoga first. Then type in the thing you want to correct, e.g. neck pain, shoulder pain, etc.
That will get you results of the best of those folks. Some of the therapy tricks I have found this way I have sent on to suffering clients.
I fell in love with these PTs and they have been my go to guys – Bob & Brad, the two most famous physical therapists on the internet. They’re kind, skilled, like playing with each, and helping people. Playful really helps when I’m hurting.
I like Feldenkrais because it hacks into the nervous system and the brain to get results. Also the movements are pain free and safe.
When to Go to Google
For some things I go straight to Google. Full written and illustrated instructions work better for some things. Naturally, many include videos, too.
Tip: Google Acupressure… then the symptom you’re aiming at.
I found some great points for supporting the immune system during flu season. They’re still useful for that and now they’re useful for the Covid 19 virus. (Not a replacement for other recommendations like wearing masks and distancing.)
In the middle of the west coast wildfire conflagration, I found this very useful set of videos for the effects of the wildfire smoke by Googling: acupressure wildfire smoke.
Caution: Use your Spidey Sense to sort through the dross or worse, misleading and dangerous sites.
My current searches to fix my pinched nerves in my shoulder led me here: Do-It-Yourself Joint Pain Relief.
Gary Crowley was trained as a Rolfer, training I know and respect. He offers some really simple, very effective ways to work on your own body.
He’s kind and encouraging and very clear. I recommend watching the techniques videos first, I didn’t, I went back to watch them after playing with his neck and shoulder pain strategies.
You can then search for the part of the body you want to address and help on the left hand side of his pages.
My shoulder and nerves are much happier now. Yeah.
I recommend him for any musculoskeletal problem you have and for most nerve pains.
May you walk in beauty,
William
