The Pleasure of Making an Altar

playful christmas altarBuilding an altar can be simple, easy, and playful.  And in this case, communal.

And sometimes, rule breaking.

“Dad, a jade plant is not a Christmas tree,” she said.

“I beg to differ.  Jade’s sprit works for me.”

The stuffed mouse was added by Suzanne.  The photo has been moved by several people.  What you can’t tell is that it is an image of an opened mouth, whistling marmot.  One of my totemic creatures.  He was at the birth of Christ.  It’s documented.

This altar clearly has roots in my Christian heritage.  Make ones that work for your heritage.  Make one that feels playful and makes your heart smile.

I just finished my free promo of Altar Making: An Active Meditation for Healing Your Heart and for Deepening Spiritual Meaning in Your Life.  If you didn’t get it, go get it now.

May you be blessed by the season of darkness, unless of course you live in the southern hemisphere where you are blessed by summer solstice,

William
